Since publishing this post, I have started a site for bloggers looking to have their writing published beyond their own blogs, called Beyond Your Blog. Come check us out! We share submission opportunities for websites and anthologies, podcast interviews with editors sharing tips for getting writing accepted on their sites, submission tips and blogger success stories. We also have a great Facebook group, called Beyond Your Bloggers, where we discuss submitting writing to various websites and also have a daily featured post share.
Today is my featured SITS Day, so welcome to new visitors stopping by from The SITS Girls! You may want to check out my New Visitor Page for some of my favorite posts or read on for a resource I just put together, that is must have for mom bloggers looking for sites to feature their writing.
If you are an attention seeking mom blogger whose writing about parenting can be both humorous and poignant, read on…
Have you ever attempted to pump gas in New Jersey, only to get the side eye from onlookers? It’s that ‘What does everyone else know that I don’t know?’ feeling. Well, pumping your own gas in NJ is illegal for those of you have never made that little blunder.
Blogging felt a lot like that to me when I first started. There seemed to be a million things that I was not ‘in the know’ on, and was waiting to stumble upon blindly in the blogosphere. One of the things I was always looking for early on were the places (besides my own blog) that I could aspire to be published on. Other bloggers seemed to drive a lot of traffic and gain notoriety by getting featured on bigger blogs with wider audiences. Attention seeker that I am, I wanted to know where these places were!
It took me months to identify the coveted sites where my blogging peers and superiors (okay, mostly superiors) were being published. Because I am much like Winnie Cooper (beautiful and popular but not afraid to associate with those less fortunate), I am sharing them with you today.
Being published on other sites can do wonders for your site traffic, your reach and your ego! So come on, reach beyond the confines of your own blog, be brave and submit! The worst they can do is turn you down (or never get back to you, leaving you waiting and wondering if it is safe to assume that it is indeed a rejection before submitting somewhere else…). Seriously, try it. I have been amazed at the sites that will feature my
crap literary genius.
